After Cataract Surgery
After your surgery, you will be taken to the post-operative recovery room while your sedation wears off. Although different people recover at different rates, it usually takes 15 minutes to an hour before you are ready to go home. The nursing staff will give you written instructions.
You will already have an appointment to return to our office the day after surgery. We will remove your eye patch at the visit, and give you additional written instructions about prescription eye drops to use while your eye is healing.
Although you can do most of your normal activities, we do ask you to refrain from rubbing your eye, heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for at least a week.
