Before Cataract Surgery

You will need a thorough examination of your eyes prior to cataract surgery. This exam will verify that your vision trouble is from cataract formation and not another problem. You will also have additional tests done on your eyes that are used to select the correct lens implant. These tests will include measurements of the size and shape of your eyes, and may include assessment of the corneal thickness as well.

Once the decision has been made to proceed with surgery, we will ask for medical clearance for outpatient surgery from your primary care doctor.

You will be given written instructions to use prescription eye drops in the days preceding your operation. Typically, we would have you use an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops.
